Course Descriptions:
Design and Drawing for Production - 40 weeks - 1 credit:
This course intends to provide opportunities in the areas of design and drawing through creative thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving experiences. Strategies of design and drawing appropriate now and in the future and emphasized.

• DDP can also be used to fulfill the art/music requirement for those students not taking an approved technology sequence.
• However, students pursuing an approved technology education sequence will receive technology education credit while also satisfying the high school art/music requirement.
• Furthermore, all students not pursuing an approved technology education sequence will earn credit in art education while also satisfying the high school art/music requirement.

Architecture - 20 weeks- 1/2 credit: (Elective)
This course is broken down into 12 modules and students will be responsible to complete a set of home plans to satisfy the curriculum. The students will design the dream home of their choice, with assistance from the teacher.

Advanced Architecture - 20 weeks- 1/2 credit: (Elective)
This course is for students pursuing a 5-unit sequence in technology. The basic architecture course is a prerequisite for Advanced Architecture. A home of a least 2500 sq. ft. will be selected and drawn on the computer with full color.

Computer Aided Design - 20 weeks - 1/2 credit: (Elective)
Students will develop the ability to design and draw using Auto CAD software. Students will be able to receive a hard copy, using a laser printer.

Architectural Construction - 20 weeks - 1/2 credit: (Elective)
This course is for students pursuing a 5 - unit sequence in technology. Here is the world of construction in a kit. The basic Architecture course is a prerequisite for this course. Students will work in groups of three duplicating real wood frame homes in a kit form of 3/4" balsa-scale models. Students will be learning how to frame according to building codes, and much more. (spring  semester)

8th Grade Technology - 40 weeks:
Introduction to technology is a course of study designed to enable eighth grade students to understand the concepts that underlie technological systems. Students will learn about the influence of technology in their total lifestyle, including home, school, and the world of work. Furthermore, this course addresses additional generic technology concepts such as the career opportunities and other personal and societal implications of technology. (Every year)

Communication Systems - 20 weeks 1/2 credit: (Systems course)
Students will learn various ways that we use technology for communications. Students will learn about the historical progression of technology from ancient methods to modern methods. Students will work individually and in groups to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the communications field. Potential projects include Powerpoint presentations, silkscreening, poster constructions, audio/visual projects, and many more. This course will be offered both semesters, once in the morning, the first semester and once in the afternoon, the second semester. This course is required as a systems course for technology sequence students but is open to all 10 - 12th grade.

Material Processing - 20 weeks - 1/2 credit:
The student will understand the significance of resources, processes and the impacts of materials used by mankind. This course will focus on how materials can be changed from one form to another to create useful products of projects. The methods of processing materials will be discussed and demonstrated. Laboratory activities will be provided to allow the students to make projects or products and to explore the many ways materials are processed. This is a foundation course and is required for the technology sequence.(Fall semester)

Media Literacy - Elective - 20 weeks - 1/2 credit:
Offered to seniors and juniors only. Media literacy is learning about the "hidden" messages in advertising by breaking ads and commercials down into their component parts (i.e. timing, color, people, text, etc.). In this course, students will demonstrate their knowledge of media literacy by dissolving ads and commercials using media deconstruction. While doing this, the students will also learn about contemporary health topics through class instruction, class discussions, research, and interviews to gather information on how health issues plague our society, in terms of how problems start and how to remedy them. Students will design a project where they will write, script, act, record, direct, and edit a public service announcement as a group
