Job Title: Universal Pre-K Floating TA
Reports to: YMCA Preschool Program Director
Hours: Monday- Friday 11am-2pm, when school is in session
Salary: Hourly rate, TBD
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Preschool & Family Program Director/Coordinator or Branch Director, the Floating TA is responsible for guiding and nurturing preschool students. To assist the Universal Pre-K Teacher in supervising program participants and ensuring their safety and success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist teachers with the implementation of curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Assists the Universal Pre-K Teacher in designing and implementing daily lesson/activity plans.
- Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
- Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Responsible for the health, welfare and safety of participants.
- Maintains required program records.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Actively pursues training, learning opportunities and certifications as they relate to responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
- At least 18 years of age.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date- trainings available through the YMCA.
- Minimum of 6 months previous experience working with preschool age children.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
